The appointment of Il Divo musician Sébastien Izambard as an ambassador to our Foundation two years ago gave us access to Sébastien’s thriving international fan base. A group of women from around the world including the UK, Belgium and Korea - continue to fundraise on our behalf, becoming avid supporters of the Sanfilippo cause. United under umbrella organisation, the Sebastien Izambard Official Fan Club, the group has raised AUD $8,765 for our Foundation in 2016 alone and this year registered as a not-for-profit organisation to become a new entity, Il Divo Fans for Charity.
The groups’ president, Anne-Lies Boecxstaens-Jacobs, an IT professional from Belgium, launched a new website to unite Sébastien Izambard and Il Divo fans globally to raise money and support for three charities including Assistance Médicale Toit du Monde (AMTM), Nordoff Robbins and the Sanfilippo Children's Foundation (SCF).
Il Divo fans have raised funds for our Foundation via the sale of music memorabilia in online auctions and raffles, via personal challenges and even an online concert ‘Music for Sanfilippo’ on Rare Disease Day (28 Feb). Of particular note was the 2017 Il Divo calendar campaign. More than 700 fan photographs from Il Divo’s successful Amor & Passion World Tour were submitted to the group from around the world, with the final product generating $6,000, of which almost $3,000 was donated to the SCF.
Thank you once again to IlDivo Fans for Charity team members Anne-Lies Jacobs (Belgium president), Sébastien Izambard (Honorary President), Caroline Bellis (Belgium, Secretary), Delphine Decoster (Belgium, Treasurer), Beth Decheine (US, Fan Charity Coordinator), Vanessa Goyvaerts (Belgium, Merchandising Coordinator), Lesley Ann Jones (UK, Order & Product Management), Kate Bilsborough (UK, Social Media Admin - Nadine Hubaux (Belgium, French translator), & Virginie Genty (France, AMTM) (Honorary Members)
