Why the Sanfilippo cause?
I cannot imagine the challenges and heartbreak faced by the families who have no choice but watch their children slowly disappear before their eyes. My gratitude for the health of my own two children drives me to want to do what I can to afford this to all families.
What's your message to the wider Australian community about the work of the Sanfilippo Children's Foundation?
The Sanfilippo Children’s Foundation is integral in raising awareness in Australia and globally, about a hidden and tragic condition that would otherwise go largely unaddressed and remain misunderstood. The Foundation’s work has resulted in the funding of much needed advocacy, vital research and clinical trials with potential for significant therapeutic outcomes. Rare does not mean insignificant!
How are you inspired by the work of the Foundation?
I’m in awe of the impact the Foundation has had in a relatively short time. I am inspired by the team of genuinely caring people who want nothing more than to ensure that parents in the future do not have to experience the heartache of Sanfilippo, but will settle for nothing less!
What makes you happy/ what makes you sad?
Creativity makes me happy, watching my Dad slowly fade makes me sad.
Which value do you bring to our team and how?
I most identify with collaboration. We are all parts of a whole and it’s only with true collaboration that we can make impactful and sustainable change in the world.
