Why the Sanfilippo cause?
“I first heard of Sanfilippo in 2014 when I met the Donnell family through my children’s kindergarten. They are a local family, not unlike my own, who had received such a devastating diagnosis.
Since then I have followed the progress of the Foundation and been amazed at how, in such a short space of time, they have made such a big impact. I am really excited to be working for the Sanfilippo Children's Foundation and to be part of a team that is making such a difference.”
How are you inspired by the work of the Foundation?
“There is a saying ‘Be the change you want to see in the world’. To be told that there is no cure, no treatment and no hope and then to not only not accept that answer but to work tirelessly to fund research and trials for treatments and provide hope to all the families battling Sanfilippo – that's inspiring!”
Which value do you bring to our team and how?
“I’m constantly astounded at the energy I see in our supporters and the community that has grown around this cause. People are using their talents to run/swim/ride while challenging themselves to go faster/longer/stronger. I like to think I bring the same energy to the work that I am doing and you never know, one day I may even catch up on the track.”
