Meet Our People

Dr Lynn Weekes AM

Why the Sanfilippo cause?

I first learnt about Sanfilippo syndrome a year or so ago and was humbled and inspired by the work families and the Foundation do to support children with this condition. The positive energy I observed left me in awe and wanting to make whatever contribution I can. Rare conditions can so easily become invisible and yet by helping find a cure for Sanfilippo it is likely that treatments for other childhood diseases will be progressed too.

How are you inspired by the work of the Foundation?

The positivity of the Foundation is extraordinary but coupling that passion with hard work and clear strategy is what makes this organisation special. It really is only a matter of time until the Foundation delivers on better options for children with Sanfilippo.

Which value do you bring to our team and how?

I like to consider myself determined (some would say stubbornly so). I have also experienced first hand the importance of working collaboratively, building coalitions with people and organisations who have different skills and world views. There is much to be gained through diversity and surrounding yourself with all kinds of excellence.

What's your favourite motivational quote?

"Every thought, every word and every action that adds to the positive and the wholesome is a contribution to peace. Each and everyone of us is capable of making such a contribution." Aung San Suu Kyi
