Dr David Ketteridge
Dr. David Ketteridge MBBS, FRACP (Paediatrics)
Dr. Ketteridge is a Metabolic Physician and General Paediatrician at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Adelaide.
His research interests particularly include the Mucopolysaccharidoses (MPS) with involvement in clinical trials in MPS’s type VI and IV.
As part of the medical team in the Metabolic Unit, Dr Ketteridge also contributes to the care for a wide variety of patients with metabolic conditions, including other disorders treated with enzyme replacement.
Interest in Sanfilippo:
"I have been involved in the clinical care of children and young adults with Sanfilippo (MPS III) since 1986 and have witnessed the challenges of living with and managing this condition. The challenges to the individual with Sanfilippo and to their families are huge. Observing the dedication of parents, other family members and the responses of those with Sanfilippo has lead me to understand the importance of ongoing research in this field.
"Medical options for assisting those with Sanfilippo are presently extremely limited. We have no therapies currently available that directly improve the disease and are attempting to manage the symptoms of the disease. Even then our options are very limited. I strongly support research to improve our knowledge of the disease, and to improve treatment options for the benefit of those with Sanfilippo and their parents."
