Why the Sanfilippo cause?
Sanfilippo Syndrome is rare, but for the families and communities it touches it is absolutely devastating and life-altering. It is something no family should ever have to face. With advancements in medical technologies and therapeutics, the hunt for a cure is more urgent than ever as new opportunities and pathways for innovation open up. I’m genuinely driven by the belief that a world without Sanfilippo Syndrome can be achieved.
What's your message to the wider Australian community about the work of the Sanfilippo Children's Foundation?
Foundations like ours are critical to finding new cures for rare diseases as we invest in new ideas and research with the potential to positively change outcomes and save lives. But we can’t do it without your help. There is much more to be done to help children with Sanfilippo now and in the future. As a supporter of the Foundation you are part of the solution, giving hope to families around the world.
How are you inspired by the work of the Foundation?
The Sanfilippo Children’s Foundation absolutely punches above its weight to make the impossible happen, overcome obstacles, and work hand in hand with others to fight this disease. I’m thoroughly inspired by the team’s leadership to harness the collective impact of the global community working to fight Sanfilippo Syndrome!
What makes you happy/ what makes you sad?
Simple things make me happy - cuddles with my kids, bushwalks and beaches, the occasional dose of reality tv and a buttery chardonnay paired with an oozing brie. Seeing our beautiful country ravaged by bushfires, drought and flood makes me sad, but at the same time I feel in awe at the resilience of the Australian community and willingness to come together to help each other in times of need.
Which value do you bring to our team and how?
Determination and collaboration - my passion to drive the Foundation forward for the benefit of our families, and ability to connect with others to work towards a common goal is at the core of what I bring to the team.
